Human mind never ceases to ask questions and wander into the realm of unknown to unlock a new world of possibilities. 
If you dare to fly across the horizon and take a quantum leap into the ocean of knowledge, this is your chance to quench your thirst. In an effort to provide an opportunity for students conducting original scientific investigations to present their work publicly and to receive recognition for their achievement, we present to you

PAPYRUS, the research paper presentation event. 

 

The competition consists of two categories:

  • Mechanical, Production and Industrial Engineering.
  • Civil and Environmental Engineering.
  • ‘SAVING WORLD THROUGH INNOVATION’

 

General Rules:

  • Graduate or undergraduate students may participate in the competition.
  • The maximum number of members allowed per team is 4.
  • A team can present a paper in only one of the three categories.
  • One team can present only one paper.

 

Note: The paper accompanied by a bona fide certificate of a senior faculty member and include an address for communication will be preferred.

Last date for submission of abstract: 17th February, 2010.

 

General Overview

  • The abstract should give a clear indication of the objective, scope, and results of the paper. The length of the abstract should not be more than 350 words. The title page of abstract must contain the name of the members as on their college I-cards, name of the college(s) to which the members belong, a common email address and contact number.
  • Only the abstracts that reach us through email to papyrus@innovafest.com by 17th February, 2010, shall be eligible for further consideration. The subject of the email should be the category chosen . The abstract should be sent as a MS Word document attachment.
  • Teams whose abstracts are selected will be notified by email or through the contact numbers.
  • The selected teams will have to submit Full Length Manuscripts in MS Word Format. It must reach us by 10:00 p.m. on February 19, 2010.

  • Each team should bring four printed copies of the paper to be presented, in pen drive and CD on the day of the contest. The contents of the paper should be printed only on one side of A4 size sheets.

 

Full Length Paper Format:

  • The paper should have a title page, abstract, main text, conclusion and appendices. The main body of text must be typed single-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font and be no more than 10 pages. Suitable font sizes can be adopted for headings and sub-headings. Title page and appendices shall not be counted toward the limit.
  • The title page of the paper must contain the title of the paper, name of the members as on their college I-cards, name of the college(s) to which the members belong, a common email address and contact number.
  • All papers shall have a bibliography/references page and appropriate footnotes. The author should check that the text references and the reference list are in complete agreement as regards dates and spelling of names. Papers omitting bibliography/references or using plagiarized material will be automatically disqualified.

 

Presentation:

  • Each entrant must formally present his or her paper at the conference in the form of power point presentation. Presentations must be no longer than 10 minutes.
  • A 5-minute question-and-answer period will follow the presentation of the paper. Questions may be posed by judges and/or students attending the presentation.
  • Presentations should be accompanied by visual aids. An overhead computer interfaced projector will be available in the contest hall.

 

Scoring

Scoring will be on a basis of 100 , as follows:

  • Technical Paper (50)
  • Choice of Topic & innovative idea (20)
  • Technical Content (30)
  • Presentation (50)
  • Content (20)
  • Speaker Mechanics (5)
  • Quality and Usefulness of Visual Aids (5)
  • Question and Answer(20)

 

General Tips regarding the visual aid:

  • Use graphics, schematic diagrams, and figures to make the presentation effective. Keep the text to the minimum possible.
  • Size of lettering and clarity of presentation materials are important. For letter size, we recommend Times New Roman with font size 24 points or larger.

 

PRIZES AND AWARDS:

  • Participation certificates would be awarded to all the scholars who have registered.
