The Concrete Challenge 

"Concrete is to a civil engineer what Juliet was to Romeo"

This event is of paramount importance in gauging the abilities of a true civil engineer.
So bring out the civil engineer out of yourself and feel the adrenaline.
Concrete is the primary ingredient of every civil engineer’s recipe.
Concrete testing is the basically the making the cubes of concrete and then testing them for various aspects of the design.
So knock out all others in the arena and win the war of Matrix.

 

General Rules:

  • matrix will be held in two rounds both of which will be held during INNOVA’10  at DTU

Round 1:

  • There will be a written preliminary round to test the participants knowledge of mechanics and physics required to complete the goal of the problem.

Round 2:

  • Teams will have to construct cubes of concrete based on certain restrictions and parameters (civil,mechanical or otherwise) given at the time of the competition, within a given time frame.
  • Material will be provided in a kit which will be same for all. Materials depend on problem statement.
  • All intricate rules and regulations will be revealed on the spot. The decision of the judge is final and binding.

Mechanical constraints and efficiency of the concrete cube,specifications of the desired cube will be disclosed through a question paper which will be supplied to the teams during the event

Workshop:

The workshop will be held on 8th and 9th Feb. The topics covered are:-

  • Cement testing.
  • Principles of mix design.
  • Practical Application.

PRIZES AND AWARDS:

  • Following are the prizes to be awarded 
    • Winner
    • First Runner up
    • Second Runner up

          Prizes worth INR 75,000 to be won.

  • Participation certificates would be awarded to all the scholars who have registered.
