The Debate Contest  

Clairvoyance reflects the potential of youth through their arguments and concerns. This year the objective is to lighten the spark of environmental conservation in the youthful brains. The crux is

'If you can prove it right, you are right'

General Rules:-

• Participants from all colleges are invited.
• Interested students can register themselves online by sending an email at clairvoyance@innovafest.com. The email should specify the name of the participant, their contact number, the college that they belong to and their preferred stance on the topic as ‘for’ (yes) or ‘against’ (no).
• Students can also register for the debate by contacting the event heads.
• Participants will be duly informed by email whether they have to speak ‘for’ or ‘against’ the topic as decided by the event heads.  
• The debate will be held in two rounds. The first round of the debate will be on the already disclosed topic. The second round will be a questioning round with the judges. The final result will be declared on the basis of the cumulative scores of both the rounds.
• The debate will be held in ENGLISH.

The rules for the first round are:-

• Each speaker will be allotted 3 minutes to speak on the topic. This will be followed by a round of interjections. Number of interjections raised will not be more than 5. Cross questioning is not allowed.
• Interjections can be from the audience as well as the other participants.
• Our erudite panel of judges will evaluate the participants under the broad heads of content, rebuttal, diction, pronunciation and expression.

The rules of the second round are:-

• The finalists will face a questioning round with our panel of judges. The questions will be related to the already mentioned topic.
• In this round the participants will be evaluated on the basis of clarity of thoughts and ideas.
  
  
  

There will be an award for the best interjection.

The decision of the judges will be binding upon all.

The topic for the debate is
       

“Can we solve our energy problems with existing technologies or do we need new innovations”

          Prizes worth INR 30,000 to be won.

• Participation certificates would be awarded to all the scholars who have registered.
