The CAD Designing Contest

Today, with computerization of the workplace, design methods using primitive calculations are obsolete.

This event aims to test the imagination and technicality of the students by setting problem statements which require a blend of intuition and knowledge.

Problem statement:

To Design and implement a problem using the following 3 software:

• AutoCAD
• Solid Works
• Catia

General Overview

The event is divided into 2 rounds

Round 1- Preliminary Round (Written Test)
There will be a written test which will be based on software, IQ and basic concepts. 
Duration for this round will be 30 min with 30 questions.

Round 2- Main Round
A design problem will be given which has to be completed within 3 hours. The design problem will be based on mechanisms that we encounter in our day -to-day life so as to check your originality and innovation.

1. Participants will have a choice to work on either Pro –E (version Wildfire or higher), AutoCAD (ver. 2006 or higher) Solid Works (ver. 2004 or higher) or Catia.

2. There will be a final Presentation Round, here each team must formally present and explain its design and the logic behind it to the judges. Presentations must be no longer than 10 minutes.

 RULES:

• Students of all branches can participate in the event.
• The maximum number of members allowed per team is 2. All students with a valid identity card of their respective educational institutes are eligible to participate in CADCRAFT.
• The decision of the organizers and panel of judges will be final and will be binding on all the participants.  Judges decision will be based on the concept, originality, and application of the idea, design and other parameters like presentation made, etc.
• No storage devices are allowed inside the lab.

PRIZES AND AWARDS:

Following are the prizes to be awarded

• First prize worth Rs. 25,000/-
• Second prize worth Rs. 15,000/-

• Online registration is open.  On the spot registrations would be limited and  done  on  the  basis  of  first  come  first  serve . On-the-spot registrations will start at 9:00 A.M on 22th February, 2010.
